A: You do not need a medical certificate to start training; however, you must obtain a medical certificate prior to solo flight. With this in mind, it is always best to get your medical certificate before starting training. We recommend this so that you do not invest time and money into your training program only to discover that you have a medical issue that would prevent you from qualifying for the medical certificate.
A: HeliStream has a list of local doctors in the area that give FAA medical exams. The cost is approximately $80.00. You will need a third class for Private Pilot, a second class for Commercial and CFI, and a first class for ATP.
